The waterbuck is a large antelope that stays near water. Its hide is forbidden to women, or to everyone, in many Lango clans, among them the Jo Along, Jo Apelo, Jo Atule and Jo Apany, and in the Jo Atekit a child may not sleep on it. Driberg listed it among the animals found everywhere in Lango; its skin covered the Lango drums.
Habitat
Grassland and woodland close to water.
