The jacana walks across floating water-lily leaves on its long toes, and is sometimes called the lily-trotter. Driberg saw it on Lake Kwania, “the favoured haunt of numerous and diverse aquatic birds”, where it “trips lightly from lily to lily”.
Habitat
Lakes and marshes with floating plants.
